It was the passing of the baton. An old hand imparting skills to the young. Scotsman and 2003 G4 Challenge veteran, Tim Pickering, visited the Land Rover Experience in Dunkeld, Perthshire, to train three 2006 G4 Challenge UK finalist.

The training was conducted ahead of the International Selections for the event. Among the three finalists was overseas tour director Susanna Madge, the UK's first female finalist.
The three were among the thousands of online applicants for the UK National Selections, a demanding competition that halved the initial field of 48 selected participants. Highlights to the competition includes having to recover a strategically placed Land Rover Defender in a frozen lake, at 4.30am.
For the International Selections phase of the G4 Challenge, the three UK finalist will go on to compete in Bangkok on 23 April 2006, then to the jungle of Laos, various special stages on the beach of Rio de Janeiro and a climb through the mountains of Bolivia.
